Larnaca the third largest city of Cyprus Island welcomes tourists in the Mediterranean Region of Kiton settlements and the land of Flamingo’s.

Larnaca is the oldest and the third largest city of Cyprus. Larnaca the capital of eponymous district is situated on the southern coast of Cyprus. It is one of the recently developed cities of Cyprus having an urban population of only 84,591 in 2011. It is becoming a great tourist attraction among the beauty and nature lovers. Larnaca being the largest and primary international airport of the country is engaged in both cargo and passenger inflow in the town. It has also a seaport and a marina for both passenger and cargo.

Larnaca is actually built on the ruins of the ancient Citium, which is regarded as the birthplace of Stoic philosopher Zeno. Larnaca also has a rich history with that attracts history lovers to know about its past civilization. It is said that in ancient times it was known by the name Kitiou with the strong belief that first settlement in Larnaca was established 6000 years ago by Khittim, the grandson of Noah. Later the name Larnaca that means coffins in Greek was named after the findings of several burial sites of Kition settlements. From ancient times, Larnaca had been an attraction for several external rulers because of its prime location in the Mediterranean Region that made it rich in minerals and other resources. It has experienced the rules of the Greeks, Persians, Egyptians, Romans, Byzantines, Turks and the Britishers.

Larnaca holds its history, culture and many more entertainments for attracting tourists to enjoy their visit and holiday here. It is very renowned for its palm-tree sea front as well as the palm trees seen on both sides of the roads around the city. The palm trees add a spell bound attraction to the city giving it a beautiful look. The town’s salt lake considered the holy site of Hala Sultan Tekke situated near the international airport is one of the great attraction for the tourists as they get mesmerized seeing the innumerable pink Flamingos fluttering around the lake during the months of November to March. St Lazarus Church of the nineteenth century built in the old town of Larnaca also drags attraction for the relics of the saint that is located in the church. The saint lived here for thirty years after his resurrection by Christ. Pierides Foundation Museum that exhibits Cypriot antiques from the Neolithic to the medieval period is worth visiting. Larnaca Fort that was built by the Turks in 1625, it also consists of Larnaca Medieval  Museum that exhibits the site of Kition; another attraction of the fort is that it is situated on the sea shore and one can enjoy walking around the sea wall with water up to their ankles. Larnaca District Archaeological Museum houses a collection of the findings from the Neolithic Age to the Roman period – it also has a garden wherein numerous torsos statues grab tourist attraction. The Grand Mosque built by Djami Kebir in the sixteenth Century is located near the Larnaca Fort. Other attractions of Larnaca town are Church of Saint Lazarus, Hala Sultan Teke, Ms Zenobia, Stavrovouni Monastery, Khirokitia and GSZ Stadium.

The town also has a collection of popular bars, cafes, hotels and a few restaurants mostly situated along the beach where both the locals and the tourists have their coffee and meals. You get abundant variety of seafood and the taste is great,
